International Corrugated Cardboard Box Standard

Apr 15, 2022

There are two types of box-type standards for international corrugated cardboard boxes, one is the international carton box-type standard approved by the International Corrugated Board Association and jointly formulated by the European Corrugated Board Manufacturing Industry Federation (FEFCO) and the Swiss Cardboard Association (ASSCO); The other is the national standards of Japan and the United States. In the international carton box type standard, the text name of the box type is represented by a simple 4- to 8-digit number code, and various box types have legends in the standard to check.

The unified serial number represents the different box structures in the same box type, and the modification is the modification of the standard box type by each manufacturer. The box types represented by the modified suffix codes of different manufacturers are different, but the same manufacturer should be the only dedicated one. The suffix code is convenient to build CAD/CAM library or special box library.

For example, the commonly used 02-type carton, also known as a slotted carton, is formed with a sheet of cardboard, and the upper and lower flaps of the conjoined can seal the carton. Generally, the joints are joined by stapling, adhesive or tape paper bonding in the carton factory. The length of the joining side depends on the thickness of the corrugated cardboard used, which is generally between 25 mm and 45 mm. The 02 type also has a bottom structure, which is characterized by preventing the contained items from leaking from the bottom. Type 02 corrugated cardboard box is in flat shape when transported, and it is most widely used when it is put into the contents to seal the flap.
